A knit for every kind of wind

AURIQELLE makes modern fisherman knitwear: textured jumpers, knitted vests, everyday cardigans and a small range of hats and neck warmers. The idea is simple. The best knits you ever owned probably came from somewhere near the sea: heavy enough for a walk along the harbour, relaxed enough to live in. We wanted that feeling for city days too.

So every AURIQELLE knit carries a wind rating, from Force 1 for an airy summer knit to Force 8 for our heaviest cable cardigan. Check the weather, pick the force, and you know what you are putting on.

Named after the sea

Each design is named after a sea area of the shipping forecast, the radio bulletin that reads the wind around the coasts of Britain and northern Europe: Fisher and German Bight off Denmark and Germany, Dogger, Utsire, Fastnet, Hebrides. The second word of each name is the stitch. Pieces from the same area share the same stitch: the Fisher cable appears in a crew, a vest, a cardigan and a beanie, so you can build layers that belong together.

Stitches with a job to do

We start every design from the stitch, not from a trend. Cables and honeycomb give a knit body and depth. Moss stitch and basketweave make a surface that looks calm from a distance and rich close up. Fisherman rib and brioche are plump and springy. Ladder stitch and waffle let the air through on warm days. Each product page tells you which stitch you are looking at and shows it in close-up.

What we tell you, and what we don’t

For every piece we list the composition, the fit, the garment measurements and the care instructions, so you know exactly what you are buying. We don’t use words like hand-knitted, pure wool or eco unless they are true of that piece, and we don’t show reviews, awards or press quotes we don’t have. If you want to know something that is not on the page, ask us; a person answers.
